Political leaders continue to use leprosy as a negative metaphor, perpetuating stereotypes and reinforcing stigma. In reality, leprosy, also known as Hansen’s disease, is curable and not highly infectious! Read the open letter to French President Macron, written by people who have experienced leprosy.

Communities themselves must continually strive to eliminate "discrimination, stigma, and prejudice," by working towards the complete integration of the person in all of his or her bodily and spiritual dimensions.

Manfred Göbel has been working for people affected by leprosy for over 40 years in Brazil. We invite you to a lecture about working in Brazilian conditions, about stigmata of illness, about poverty and economic conditions.
